Scotched Eggs

With this scotch egg recipe, you can enjoy a pub snack from the comfort of your own home - Served with onions, cheese and mustard, these are delicious!


  • 12 kg beef/pork sausage
  • 1 teaspoon dried/minced onion
  • Teaspoon salt (or salt to taste)
  • Boiled eggs, peeled
  • 1 cup Maisha all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten


Heat oven to 200°C. In large bowl, mix sausage meat, onion and salt. Shape mixture into 4 equal patties.

Roll each peeled boiled egg in flour to coat; place on sausage patty and shape sausage around egg. Dip each into beaten egg; coat with bread crumbs to cover completely. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for 35 minutes or until sausage is thoroughly cooked and no longer pink near egg.
