Crisp and Creamy Donut Recipe

What's better than a classic doughnut? A homemade one! Make one of these sugary pastry recipes for yourself and yo'll see what the buzz is about.


  • 2 (7 grams) envelopes instant dry yeast
  • 14 cup warm water
  • 1 12 cups lukewarm milk
  • 12 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 5 cups All-Purpose Maisha flour
  • 3 cups vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 12 teaspoons vanilla
  • 4 tablespoons hot water or as needed


Mix the flour, sugar and yeast in a bowl. In another bowl mix oil, water and milk. Pour the liquid mixture into the flour mixture. Knead for 10 minutes. Let it sit for 30 minutes. Cut into donut shapes and let sit until double in size.

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in confectioners' sugar and vanilla until smooth. Remove from heat, and stir in hot water one tablespoon at a time until the icing is somewhat thin, but not watery. Set aside.

Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large heavy skillet to 175°C. Slide donuts into the hot oil using a wide spatula. Cook until brown. Let it cool and drain on a rack before serving.
